Prime Video has released all eight episodes of Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26, an anthology adapting some of the earliest one-shot manga by the creator of Chainsaw Man. The global rollout began on November 7, 2025 (November 8 in Japan), making the entire season available to binge in one sitting.
What it is
The series adapts eight shorts collected in the two-volume set Tatsuki Fujimoto: Before Chainsaw Man (vols. 17–21 and 22–26). Each episode tackles a different genre—from school romance to mermaids, vampires, body-swap comedy, and supernatural thrillers—capturing the chaotic, formative energy of Fujimoto’s teen-to-twenty-something storytelling years.
Episodes & format
All 8 episodes are live now on Prime Video; in Japan the project also had a limited two-week theatrical run in two parts (four episodes each) timed to the streaming drop.
Adapted stories include:
A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin’ in the Schoolyard; Sasaki Stopped a Bullet; Love is Blind; Shikaku; Mermaid Rhapsody; Woke-Up-As-A-Girl Syndrome; Nayuta of the Prophecy; and Sisters.
Creative lineup
The anthology is a showcase of rotating directors and studios—among them Lapin Track, Studio Kafka, P.A. Works, 100studio, and others—bringing distinct visual identities to each short while staying true to Fujimoto’s off-kilter tone.
Early reception
Early write-ups call the series a “joyously unhinged” look into a young auteur’s mind, with reviewers praising how the adaptations preserve Fujimoto’s raw edge while experimenting with animation style and pacing.
